I&#8217;ve spent it binge-reading the works of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Georges_Simenon\">Georges Simenon<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christopher_Isherwood\">Christopher Isherwood<\/a><\/strong>, dreaming up thrilling ideas for my <strong>next book<\/strong> &#8211; and making a racket with <strong>this<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1614\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mynameiso.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ThereminDelight.jpg\" alt=\"ThereminDelight\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.mynameiso.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ThereminDelight.jpg 800w, http:\/\/www.mynameiso.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ThereminDelight-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theremin\"><strong>theremin<\/strong><\/a>. I hope one day to play it with even a quarter of the delicacy, style and haunting beauty of virtuosos like <strong>Lydia Kavina<\/strong> and <strong>Thomas Grillo<\/strong>. For now, however, I&#8217;m more than happy to sound like <strong>flying saucers<\/strong>, the <strong>scream<\/strong> of <strong>rifts in time and space<\/strong> and the fatal frequencies conjured by the hapless Crawford Tillinghast in <strong>H. P. Lovecraft&#8217;s <em>From<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> Beyond<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How has your summer been? Mine&#8217;s been ace.
